FAQ
Straight answers about timelines, dust and when you can use your floors again.
Most refinishing projects take about 2–4 days, depending on the size of the area, the number of coats and whether we apply a stain. You'll get a clear timeline together with your estimate.
We sand with dust-containment equipment that captures most of the dust at the source, protect doorways and clean up at the end of the job. No sanding is 100% dust-free, but you’ll see far less dust than with traditional open sanding.
With water-based finishes, light foot traffic in socks is usually fine after about 24 hours, furniture after 48–72 hours (lift it, don't drag it) and area rugs after 1–2 weeks, once the finish has fully cured. We'll confirm the exact times for the product used in your home.
Usually not. You just need to stay off the areas being worked on. For refinishing, many families plan around the drying time, especially with pets or small children.
Often yes, if the existing floor is flat, solid and well attached — tile or sheet vinyl, for example. Carpet always has to be removed first. We check the subfloor during the estimate visit.
In most cases, yes. It depends on the thickness of the wear layer: thicker ones can be sanded one or more times, and very thin ones may only allow a light screen and recoat. We check it during the visit.
